It’s Time! Addressing Mental Health of Children in the Classroom
Mental health is a strong predictor of school success. Educators have daily opportunities to positively impact the mental health of children. To do so, one must understand the clues that a child’s behavior gives about their current mental state, the impact of mental illness or trauma on a child within the context of their culture and what elements of teaching are essential to supporting mental well-being and learning. This six-eight hour in-service uses film case studies from real classrooms and stories from personnel. Participants are given ample time to explore topics in a safe and engaging environment.
About the presenter:
Sue McKenzie is the Co-Director at Rogers InHealth, Rogers Behavioral Health System, an Agency whose mission is to implement and promote accessible education and advocacy resources using story, technology, and peer/key relationships. Sue is from the Greater Milwaukee area.
Prior to her employment at Rogers InHealth, she worked for the Planning Council for Health and Human Services, Inc., InHealth WI and Consultant with Impact Strategies and Northstar National Association of Health Education Centers. Sue believes in translating health information to empower and motivate prevention and healing.
Audience: Elementary school teachers, school counselors, school social workers, other pupil service professionals, and principals

Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
