PBIS U100: Developing Your Tier 1 Universal System
Day 1 and 2

 


WHEN: Thursday and Friday, September 20-21, 2012
8:30 am-3:30 pm (8:00 Registration) Both Days

WHERE: CESA #4 Office, 923 East Garland Street, West Salem, WI 54669

AUDIENCE: Building administrator, external and internal coaches, regular education teachers that represent grade levels, special education teacher, social worker and/or psychologist, specials teacher, paraprofessional, and family members.

PREREQUISITE: Attended Administrative Overview Training and C100: Coaching and Administration Training

DESCRIPTION:
Day 1: Participants will learn the systems, data and practices imbedded in PBIS implementation. The team will draft school-wide Behavioral Expectations, create a Behavioral Matrix and plan for team development.

Day 2: Participants will build on their work from Day 1 and will continue by developing an acknowledgement plan, developing a chart of office-managed versus classroom-managed behaviors, establishing procedures for a continuum of interventions, evaluating the efficiency of “working smarter” among school teams and creating a system for effective meetings.

OBJECTIVES: Understand the essential components of school-wide positive support systems that provide behavior supports to all students.

PLEASE BRING: Forms and processes related to discipline policy and practices; Discipline data; Laptop for team use (if possible)

REGISTRATION: Cost is a one-time fee for ALL Tier I PBIS trainings (includes Aug. 7 Overview, Sept. 13 Coaching and Administration, Sept. 20-21 Universal Training Day 1 and 2 and Implementing PBIS in Your School— Date TBA).- $2200 per Building Team for first 2 teams from a School District (Limit of 6-8 per Building Team); $2000 per additional team; (Limit of 6-8 per Building Team) Additional fee applies if sending more than 8 per building team. Your registration costs will indicate $0 due. After your entire team has registered individually, CESA #4 will adjust Payment Due based on the number of building teams registered for your school district. One person per team will be billed the entire amount due. (Includes lunch and handouts)

About the Presenter: Kent Smith is a district social worker for the Eau Claire Area School District. He is the Eau Claire District PBIS Coordinator, Coordinator for the West-Central Wisconsin PBIS Coalition (group of 9 other districts), and Wisconsin PBIS Network Trainer for the Tier I and II levels. Kent served as a building coach at an elementary school. He currently serves on three elementary PBIS teams as their social worker and has served on several pilot wrap-around teams. He has trained teams from CESA 2,4,9,10 and 11, has presented at the Wisconsin RtI Summit, the Wisconsin State Superintendent's Conference, Wisconsin Coach Institute, WI PBIS Network/CREATE conference, and along with his co-trainer, presented on PBIS and Dis-proportionate Representation at the WCASS Conference and at the National PBIS Conference in Chicago hosted by the Illinois PBIS Network. In Kent's past life he was a child abuse investigator and an in-home family therapist.

Participant Cancellation Policy: You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.


Dietary Restrictions: Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.


Weather Conditions: If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
